Barry Duerr, Associate Director of Admissions
Barry is a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh who has worked in the Office of Admissions for almost 26 years. He enjoys movies, music, and all Pittsburgh and Pitt Panther sports teams. The thing he is most proud of is being a three-time Pitt dad.

Zach Grossi, Assistant Director
Zach is a two time graduate of Pitt with degrees in Anthropology, Japanese, Korean and Secondary Social Studies Education. He decided to attend Pitt due to the urban campus location as well as access to international programming. He loves hiking and camping in Allegheny National Forest with his partner and taking the long way to get there on his motorcycle.

Justin Newman
Justin is a proud Pitt Alum and one of the founding members of the Oakland Zoo! (A student cheering section at Pitt sporting events.) He owes his health and happiness to the University of Pittsburgh, where he completed a successful weight-loss research program and met his wife that he married on the Pitt campus at Heinz Chapel!

Sam Nickoson
Sam is originally from southwest Ohio but has lived in Pittsburgh since 2009 and loves that Pittsburgh has such a warm and welcoming community in a big city environment. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in Human Resource Administration. Before joining the Pitt Admissions team, she worked as an admissions advisor and later campus registrar for an allied health technical college. When she’s not experimenting with new baking recipes, Sam loves to explore Pittsburgh’s music and theatre scene or spend time with horses at the barn.

Jenna Mola
Jenna is no stranger to new beginnings here at Pitt. She is originally from outside the city of Boston and moved to Pittsburgh back in 2021. As a first-generation college student, she loves the work she gets to do as an Enrollment Services Manager with Pitt Admissions: providing advice to students that she wished she had herself when she was going through the process of applying to schools as a prospective undergraduate. As a lover of the Arts, Pitt Arts is one of her favorite programs Pitt offers that helps connect students to different arts and cultural programming throughout the city. During her free time, she enjoys exploring the beautiful walking trails in Schenley Park with her dog Luna.

Maddy Mike
Maddy is a proud Pitt alum originally from Rochester, New York, with a BSBA in Marketing and a Certificate in Digital Media. They love walking around Pittsburgh neighborhoods and trying new restaurants around the city. They have lived here for almost 5 years and has barely scratched the surface of the Pittsburgh food scene!

Jarrod Lovelace
Jarrod is from the Greater Pittsburgh region and loves western Pennsylvania and all things Pitt. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Before coming to Pitt, he was a teacher for 6 years. If he’s not at the Cathedral of Learning or Alumni Hall, he’s enjoying Pittsburgh sports! You can also find him coaching and playing local rugby.

Malcolm Carrington
Malcolm is originally from Philadelphia and has now found home in Pittsburgh. He has worked across the non-profit sector focusing on youth education and community development throughout the city of Pittsburgh. The greenspaces throughout the area are where he spends most of his time, especially Schenley.

Joanna Harlacher
Joanna graduated from Pitt’s Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences in 2020. She studied Anthropology and Historic Preservation and completed internships at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Point Line Project’s curatorial agency. Joanna is now completing her Masters in Public Administration at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. She is passionate about working with students in the Higher Education field and sharing her Pitt experience!

Emma Bean
Emma is originally from northwest PA, but has called Pittsburgh home for the last 6 years and loves the variety Pittsburgh has to offer. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Before joining the Pitt admissions team, she was a teacher for 6 years. When she’s not discovering new favorite hiking trails, Emma loves exploring new bookstores or attending the theatre downtown.

Noel Antalek
Noel is a first-generation college student and proud Pitt alum, graduating with a degree in Natural Sciences, a minor in Political Science, and a certificate in Global Health. She is originally from Northwest PA, and loves everything about Pittsburgh, especially Pittsburgh sports! In her free time, Noel loves trying new restaurants or recipes at home, attending Pitt football games, and exploring any of the 90+ neighborhoods throughout the city.

Therese Grimes, Director of Transfer Initiatives
Therese has been a higher education professional for 22 years—ten of those years with the University of Pittsburgh! She enjoys assisting students in finding the college that’s the best fit! She loves spending time in Pittsburgh’s unique neighborhoods, cultural activities, and great restaurants with friends and family.

DeLane Crutcher, Associate Director of Transfer Initiatives
DeLane is a first generation and transfer student. He has worked in higher education for over 15 years and has worked at four colleges across the U.S. DeLane enjoys reading, cooking and a round of golf.

Amaya Christie, Enrollment Services Manager
Amaya is a recent graduate of Pitt with her Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. What she loves most about Pitt is the many research opportunities for students of all majors and interests. In her free time, she loves to bake bread and practice yoga.

Dawn Crutcher, Transfer Credit Coordinator
Dawn has over 16 years of experience in college admissions. She enjoys helping prospective students navigate the admission process. Outside of assisting students through the transfer process, Dawn likes watching old movies, the Hallmark Channel, shopping, reading, interior decorating, and spending time with family.
