PINK PANTHERS+
MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Swanson School of Engineering Pink Panthers+ Mentorship Program

Congratulations on your acceptance to the Swanson School of Engineering! As the Chronicle of Higher Education recently ranked our program 4th in the nation for enrolling and graduating women in engineering out of all public institutions, you must be so proud to potentially be part of that changing culture! We would like to invite you to spend a personalized day on campus with one of our Pitt Engineering Pink Panthers+ Mentors. This unique mentorship program is for admitted high school students identifying as women.

The goal of this program is to help you gain insight into a day in the life of a Pitt engineering student. As a part of the program, you will:

  • Explore with a Pink Panthers+ mentor
  • Meet and interact with other admitted and current Pitt Engineering students
  • Lunch (or snack) on-campus with your mentor
  • Visit Forbes Hall, the Engineering Living Learning Community (LLC)
  • Meet with a faculty or staff member
  • Tour Benedum Hall: home of our Swanson Engineers
  • Take a general campus tour with your mentor
  • Participate in a hands-on workshop in a Makerspace
  • Meet members of our women-based clubs and organizations

“I loved sitting in on my mentor’s class and having lunch with everyone in the dining hall! It gave me a great look into what my classes would be like at Pitt. My mentor helped me feel included during it too. She was really personable and seemed to really want to know more about me and my interests!”

My favorite part about my Pink Panther Day was seeing the Living Learning Community dorms. It was really helpful to hear the girls' experience in the LLC vs. normal dorms as well as get a tour of them.”
